Bob Wright Handicap Series Race 6
10 kilometres road walk
Pleinmont to Grandes Rocques, Guernsey
Kevin Le Noury holds on to close win
Kevin Le Noury, moving into the lead with a few kilometres to go, held on to cross the line first only two seconds ahead of the fast closing Rob Elliott, in the sixth race of the Bob Wright Handicap Series. The race was held in crisp cold conditions with a headwind throughout as walkers made their way up the west coast from Pleinmont to Grandes Rocques.
Third across the line was Jayne Le Noury, who now must be favourite to take the overall series win. Jayne, when competitors discarded races are taken into consideration, has a good points lead over a group of four walkers who are separated by only a few points, with one race to go over a mile. But if she finishes down the field in the handicapped event, then things will change.
Stuart Le Noury had the fastest time of the day with 54.02, well down on his best but not liking the windy conditions. Joanne le Prevost (left), in her first ever race walk had an enjoyable walk in seventh place with a 92.39 clocking.
The next race is on Sunday February 12th at 9.30 am. The start is at La Passee with the finish at North Side, a distance of 5 miles. Further details from Jayne Le Noury, tel 246865.
