Thomson sets new Allcomers Record
Carl Thomson set a new Allcomers Record for the 5000 metres track distance when finishing in 7th place in the Sarnia Walking Clubs Handicap Series. His latest effort in his racewalking comeback, had him stop the clock at 23.02.7 to remove half a minute from the time set in 1977 by a young Rob Elliott. Len Duquemins M40 Guernsey best of 23.28 set in England in 1971 was also well beaten. Carl has walked faster on the road, clocking 22.42 nineteen years ago, but even this time could go in the future.
Dave Dorey crossed the line first in the handicapped event, with a good walk from John Dedman giving himself a close second place. Rose Drückes finished third, a position which lifted her clear at the top of the Series with 50 points. An easy looking Jason Le Noury claimed a new Personal Best time by nineteen seconds back in 8th place.
The next race is on Sunday December 7th from Pleinmont to Grandes Rocques. It is race 4 in the Handicap Series , with the first walker away at 9.00 am. Further details from Jayne Le Noury. Tel 246865.
