5,000 metres track walk

Big Personal Best for Lockwood
 
Phil Lockwood had the walk of the day as he removed over a minute from his previous best time over 5,000 metres. His time of  25.06 was only half a minute down on race winner Jason Le Noury. Third for much of the race, Phil gained second spot as he passed Stuart Le Noury in the final kilometre. Phils next walk is in the Sussex Track Championships over 10,000 metres next weekend.
Winner Jason had been on course himself for a new best time as he went past 3,000 metres in 14.12, but slowed considerably in the latter half.
Carol Bates took the womens win, improving on her last walk over the distance.
The next Guernsey walk is on Sunday March 28th over 7 miles for the Bedell Cristin sponsored Chilcott Cup. The start is at Albecq at 9.30 am, finishing at North Side. Details from Jayne Le Noury, tel 246865.

The Bob Wright Handicap Series for 2009 / 2010
was presented after the race. Series winner Jayne Le Noury (centre), flanked by Phil Lockwood, 2nd place (right) and her son Stuart Le Noury 3rd place(left). The Series is held in memory of Jaynes father Bob Wright, with the unusual trophy seen in the photo featuring a VW minibus as used by Bob to ferry walkers around for many years.
