Another Best Time for Lockwood
 
Phil Lockwood claimed his third second place in this years Yorkshire Guernsey club championships, when finishing just over a minute behind Jason Le Noury over 10 kilometres. Jason led from start to finish, building up an early lead over closest challengers Lockwood and Stuart Le Noury to finish in 52.06. Holding the gap well in the middle stages Lockwood lost a bit more ground in the final laps of the sixteen walked. His 53.16 was also a new best time, continuing his recent good form. 
Down the field Rob Elliott and Dave Dorey, two of Guernsey`s past Commonwealth Games competitors, in 1982 and 1970 respectively had the chance to reminisce their past, the previous evening, at a reception held in the Grand Hall at the Royal Court. The occassion was to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Guernsey competing at the Commonwealth Games, The first time Guernsey took part was in the 1970 Games in Scotland.
The event was well attended with many travelling back to Guernsey to take part.
In 1970 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Dave Dorey finished 16th in 3.03.41 over 20 miles, whilst Rob Elliott was 10th in 1982 in Brisbane, Australia, with 2.24.28 over 30 kms.
The next walk is on Sunday May 2nd at Les Amarreurs at 9.30 am. The event is the Graham Mann Team Trophy over a 3 kilometres handicapped race distance. Details from Jayne Le Noury. tel 246865.
