Another Guernsey win for Easton
Visting race walker Mark Easton from Surrey Walking Club, a three times Church to Church winner and twice course record holder, had a comfortable win in the Yorkshire Guernsey 10 kilometres Championship walk held at Delancey. His winning time of just under 50 minutes was a pleasing effort for the now almost 48 years old Easton. The time removed two minutes off the Allcomers Guernsey age best time set by Mick Elliott in 1985.
The local challenge from Stuart Le Noury ended after a couple of laps of the sixteen as the effects of his four runs over Easter took over. Settling down to a slower pace Le Noury was still the best of the locals finishing in 54.53, a minute ahead of Phil Lockwood. Third local home was Rob Elliott who got close to breaking the hour barrier again after a few much slower times in recent walks.
The best local walk of the day was by womens winner Carol Bates, who increased her lead in the Championship as well as removing 37 seconds from her previous best time. Jayne Le Noury took second place ahead of Rose Druckes.
The next walk is on Sunday May 8th at Les Amarreurs. The event is the Graham Mann Team Trophy over 3 kilometres. The walk starts at 9.30 am. Details from Jayne Le Noury, tel 246865.
