New Age Best for Terry Bates

Terry Bates (pictured in a more relaxed mode at recent Church to Church), second man across the line continues to break the old M60 Guernsey Age Best times. He removed well over a minute from the time set by Ossie Naftel many years ago. Terry finished in 29.36, two minutes behind race winner Phil Lockwood. Carol Bates in sixth place finished only seconds down on her 2007 personal best time as she got close to the two men just in front of her at the finish.
The next walk (full details below) is a 30 minutes track walk at Footes Lane starting at 9.00 am on Sunday October 2nd. All are welcome to come and have a go.

How far will you walk?

Have you ever been curious as to how far you could walk in 30 minutes? Now is the chance to find out.
The Sarnia Walking Club are holding an informal track walk on Sunday October 2nd at 9.00 am at Footes Lane. This free event is open to all, from joggers, strollers, power walkers, fitness walkers to race walkers.
Plenty of possible entries can be seen daily on the roads and footpaths of Guernsey.
Prospective walkers, if they feel 30 minutes is too long can have a go over 20 or even 10 minutes. The walk takes place on the track, offering a traffic free event. Come and see how many laps you can complete. You will receive a friendly welcome from the Sarnia walkers. Further details or just a call to say you are interested, tel Jayne Le Noury 246865.
