10 miles road walk
Pleinmont to Lancresse

Jayne Le Noury  (pictured) walked to a new personal best time in the 10 miles road walk held from Pleinmont to Lancresse. In hot conditions she crossed the line ahead of Rose Druckes in a time of 1.57.23, in the womens championship, fifteen seconds better than her previous time.
Second home, Rose Druckes removed minutes off her recent age best with a 2.10.46 clocking.

Phil Lockwood was first home in the mens championship in 1.34.26, walking fairly even 5 mile splits after passing half way in just under 47 minutes. He held a two minutes lead over Terry Bates at this point, who walked well to record 1.39.24, a new Guernsey age best and only a minute outside of the allcomers M60 best, set many years ago by Ray Switzer on the same course. Kevin Le Noury, getting the better of wife Jayne, held on to record 1.57.02 for third place. Jaynes even paced walk had seen her record a faster second half and close the gap by around a minute.

Rob Elliott, after a recent spell of good races, succumbed to minor injury  after only a few minutes of walking. Undecided until late on whether to try out his leg after hobbling home after a recent training spin, he made the wrong choice when giving it a go! Likewise Dave Dorey pulled out at halfway with a leg problem.

Mick Le Sauvage walked the second half of the race from Albecq to Lancresse, finishing in 58.10 for 5 miles.

Terry Bates holds a good lead in the Jubilee Handicap Championships with another handicap win today. He leads the series with Phil Lockwood and Kevin Le Noury only a point apart in second place.

The next event is on Sunday May 20th at 11.00 am at Delancey Park, where the  club are holding an introductory session to race walking in conjunction with the Guernsey Sports Commission and the Generali Get Active Fortnight. Details from Jayne Le Noury at lenouryjedburgh@cwgsy.net . The next race is on Friday May 25th at Les Amarreurs over a distance of 2 kilometres at 6.30 pm. All are welcome.
