Sarnia Walking Club members in sportingbet half marathon

Five members competed in the annual Fathers Day Half Marathon run held in Guernsey today. Only Phil Lockwood racewalked finishing in 2.07.19 for 221st place and a second quicker than in 2011.

The four others all ran the 13.1 miles course from L`eree, around the coast to finish in the town of St Peter Port. Stuart Le Noury was the quickest home in 85.47 for 12th place. Stuart was not very happy with his performance as it was a good few minutes outside of the time he had targetted. Next home was Terry Bates in 94.58 for 35th place.

Kevin Le Noury, 200th in 2.04.48, struggled from early in the race but kept going to finish this event for the 32nd time, an event first run in 1981. Kevin is the only runner to have completed all the events and will be a difficult streak to break. John Dedman finished 159th with 1.58.09. Winner of the race was Lee Merrien in 66 minutes. His next scheduled race is in the London Olympics, where he represents Great Britain in the marathon.
