Stuart Le Noury Walks Sub Seven Minute Mile
 
Stuart Le Noury became the eight local race walker to dip under the seven minute mile barrier, when winning the Heritage Group Championship walk over one mile. He shaved a few seconds off his previous best time as he crossed the line in 6.58.7.
 
Second place went to Phil Lockwood half a minute behind, whilst Rob Elliott, joint local record holder with brother Mark at 6.30 who both set their best times on the road, finished in 8.49.
 
Mick Le Sauvage clocked 10.45 with newcomer Allan Harris getting under twelve minutes with 11.56.Stuart Le Noury becomes the mens club champion for 2012, whilst Jayne Le Noury takes the womens title.(Full positions to follow).
 
Terry Bates won the Jubilee Tankard for the handicap section held in conjunction with the Championships.
In the absence of Jayne, Rose Druckes won the womens mile in 11.37 ahead of Kay Coulson.
The next walk is on Sunday August 19th at Footes Lane. The event is the Willow Trust One Hour Walk. Start time is 8.30 am and newcomers are welcome. Details from Jayne Le Noury at lenouryjedburgh@cwgsy.net

A note on the mens ranking list referred to above and reproduced below. Most walkers best times were set on the roads on wheel measured courses in Guernsey, due to the absence of a track whilst  they were at their best. Those times marked (e) were set en route.
The fastest track time recorded was 6.40.8 set by Mark Elliott in 2005, with Carl Thomson recording 6.56 in 1995. Stuart Le Nourys sub 7 minute time is just ahead of Len Duquemins 7.01.3 set in 1968 in England, which is the Guernsey native M35 best time.
