Sarnia Walking Club
Bob Wright Handicap Series Race 4
2,000 metres track walk
Osmond Priaulx, Guernsey
Rob Elliott wins 2,000 metres walk
After a few recent poor performances, Rob Elliott moved through the field to claim first place in relaxed style, finishing seven seconds ahead of second walker Dave Dorey and ten up on third placed Kevin Le Noury in the 2,000 metres handicapped event.
A good walk by Allan Harris, with an actual time of 13.51, gave him fouth place overall on the day and sees him at the head of the handicap series after four races. He leads the series by three points from Jamie Marsh, who in his own words “never got going today”.
Jayne Le Noury and Mick Le Sauvage both had fine efforts with Jayne walking her best time for three years. Fastest walk of the day was by Phil Lockwood who started off last and almost remained there as he crossed the line with an actual time of 9.45.1. Jane Rowlinson, only a few seconds outside of her personal best time was the quickest of the women, just ahead of Jayne Le Noury.
The next walk is on Sunday December 9th at 9.00 am. The event is the annual Val des Terres Hill Climb over a distance of 815 metres. Walkers are set off at two minute intervals. Details from Jayne Le Noury . There is a small entrance fee of £1, with all welcome to walk.
