Sarnia Walking Club
3 kilometres road walk
Les Amarreurs, Vale, Guernsey

Guernsey one , two, three

A good sized field of 22 walkers competed in the warm up event for the Church to Church two days later . The now traditional Friday evening road walk over 3 kilometres attracted many of the overseas walkers here for the weekend, some taking it a little easier than usual.

Stuart Le Noury, always walks this event without holding much back and he secured an easy win in 14.55, after passing halfway in 7.24. Phil Lockwood, judging by his face at the end put in a solid effort in second place less than a minute behind.
Jason Le Noury completed the one, two, three in 16.14 after strolling the first lap of two in 8.35. Steve Allen from Barnet held off Jim Ball by two seconds, after Ball had closed the gap in the latter stages to claim fourth place.

Local Terry Bates and newcomer to Guernsey Malcolm Martin from Surrey WC, walked a close race throughout and could not be separated at the end. Bates secured another Guernsey age best time with his 17.17. clipping a few seconds off his road best.

First of the women was Surrey Walking Clubs Angela Martin, who walked a good race to finish in 19.35, not too far down on regular visitor Ed Shillabeer. Angelas time was a new Guernsey allcomers age best time.

Next home was local Peter Beckerleg, perhaps relishing the competition, with a new personal best time. taking around 40 seconds from his time only set last month. Local Sarnia stalwarts Kevin Le Noury and Mick Le Sauvage had close walks with visitors David Delaney, Mick Barnbrook, David Hoben and Norbet Will, all finishing within 27 seconds of each other.
Dave Dorey was isolated in the field clocking 21.06.

The race for the Sarnia women was won by Rose Druckes from Kay Coulson. Jayne Le Noury, suffering an injury was third local. Visitor Dave Ainsworth separated the women, whilst local Allan Harris completed the field.
There, I think thats everyone mentioned!

Amongst the officials and spectators it was good to see regular walk visitor Sean Pender. Past Church to Church winner Colin Bradley was judging, whilst the father and son duo Chris and Jonathan Hobbs watched the race before their efforts on Sunday.
