Guernsey Race Walking : Sarnia Walking Club

The minutes of the meeting held on January 12th 1965 at the Dorset Arms decided that the club should be called the “Sarnia Walking Club”, narrowly defeating the proposed ” Guernsey Walking Club”. “The Sarnia Woodpeckers WC ” was also proposed.

The club colours were also decided on. The colours to be a yellow and white vest, with the top half yellow, with a Guernsey crest breaking the two colours. The shorts to be emerald.

The next meeting on April 9th 1965 at the same venue, had a proposal that Mrs J H Robert be made a Honorary Member, This was approved by all present.

Letters were received regarding the clubs affiliation to the Race Walking Association and the Amateur Athletics Association.

There was talk of a selection for the Jersey Easter 7 miles walk and mention of St Sampsons School winning the first walk of its kind and taking the SWC Cup.
