Kevin Allan continues his good form

Kevin Allan continues his good form with a two minutes improvement on his previous best time for the 3 kilometres walk. Although down the field back in eighth equal place with Wendy Wilson, his performance was probably the best of the day.

A chilly morning greeted the walkers who raced over a twisty four lap course with Stuart Le Noury out on his own from the start to finish a few seconds outside of 15 minutes. Also isolated back in second place was Rob Elliott with a satisfying 16.46. Third place in the mens section went to Phil Lockwood who is slowly getting back to form after a lengthy lay off through injury last year.

Quickest of the women was Donna Allan in 17.44 in third actual position overall, ahead of Olga Le Noury and Wendy Wilson. Wendy finishing only seconds outside of her best time. Kevin Le Noury had Peter Beckerleg in close contention for most of the race, beating him to the line by seven seconds.

Kay Coulson had a good race with her 21.41, whilst Jayne Le Noury lost out to Mick Le Sauvage by only seconds.

Dave Dorey brought up the rear after fading in the second half to cross the line in 23.32.

The next race is the final event in the Bob Wright handicap series over a distance of 5 miles. It is on February 18th at 9.30 am from Lancresse to North Beach, White Rock.

Bob Wright Handicap Series Race Four

3 kilometres road walk

Cambridge Park, Guernsey

Handicap win for Wendy Wilson

Wendy Wilson moved into third place in the Bob Wright Handicap Series after the fourth of seven races, when winning the latest race over three kilometres on the twisting 950 metres lap at Cambridge Park. Her actual time was a new personal best time of 20.45, taking nine seconds off her previous best set recently.

Second place went to Kevin Le Noury moving back into form with 20.01. A good race from Kay Coulson gave her third place from Rob Elliott who walked the fastest time of the day just outside 17 minutes. He managed to reverse the order over next to finish Donna Allan who had beaten him over 10 kilometres the week before.

Donna started 20 seconds ahead of Elliott, who made up the gap easily and moved ahead in the first lap of three. He held on to his advantage until a few hundred metres from the end when Donna made the effort to move ahead and open up a gap herself before fading in the final straight where Elliott regained his position.

MIck Le Sauvage, Dave Dorey and Peter Beckerleg, the remaining walkers all finished within 14 seconds of each other on handicap.

There is now a close race in the series with four points separating the first four walkers with Mick Le Sauvage leading Donna Allan by a point followed by Wendy Wilson and Peter Beckerleg.

1 Wendy Wilson W50 22.30 (watch time) / 1.45 (handicap) / 20.45 (actual time)

Le Sauvage leads Series

Mick Le Sauvage leads the Bob Wright Handicap Series after three of the seven races completed. His sixth place in the latest race gives him a two point lead over Peter Beckerleg and Donna Allan.

A windy morning greeted the walkers with the fastest Stuart Le Noury walking through the field to cross the line first from his position of last walker to start. His actual time of 14.36 gave him the handicap win from Dave Dorey. Dave’s 22.11 actual time was almost a minute up on his last performance.

Third place went to Rob Elliott only five seconds ahead of first woman Donna Allan. A closely packed race had positions 2 to 9 separated by only 35 seconds.

There were consistent times in comparison to recent walks from relative newcomers Wendy Wilson and Kevin Allan , both coping well in the conditions.

At the other end of the scale, Kevin Le Noury, with over forty years experience, walked his first race as an M60 with a time slower than expected.

Peter Kendal Pairs Trophy 3 kilometres road walk

Stuart and Wendy paired for Peter Kendal win

The pairing of Stuart Le Noury and newcomer Wendy Wilson were over a minute too good for the other teams in this perhaps unique Peter Kendal event. Second place went to Donna Allan and Olga Le Noury both walking good races, with third place going to the experienced Rob Elliott and newcomer Kevin Allan.

Wendy Wilson had the walk of the day walking much quicker than in her last few races to cover the 3 kilometres in 20.54. Stuart had the quickest time of the day at the shorter distance with a 7.20 clocking on what was a hard day to race with a head on wind up the longest part of the course. There was a smile from Wendy as this was the first time she had ever won a trophy in any sport.

Walkers are paired together with the entrants split between the faster and slower walkers in the race.

The teams start on handicap based on the slower walkers predicted times with the faster walker walking behind their teammate for half of the race, before all setting off at their own pace, resulting in a 3 kilometres result for the slower walkers and a 1.5 kilometres result for the faster. The faster walkers have their race predicted handicap added on at the finish.

Whilst winner Richards was racing to a fast 14.16 clocking and breaking Ed Shillabeers all comers age best in the process, Jim Ball and Rob Elliott were swopping race positions throughout before crossing the line together in 17.15 for second place.

Local walkers Kevin Le Noury and Peter Beckerleg claimed equal fourth place ahead of Mick Le Sauvage. Regular visitor David Hoben was close behind in 7th with Kay Coulson bringing up the rear with 22.25.
