Two break the hour in 10 kilometres walk

Stuart Le Noury dominated the 10 kilometres walk as he cruised to a satisfying win in 52.30 on the four lap North Side circuit. With the shorter distance of 5 kilometres starting at the same time, he was still too fast for the winner of that event, as Rob Elliott crossed in 30.49. Stuart had passed his halfway point in 26.16.

Donna Allan, in the 10 kilometres race, had started steadily and overtaken Rob Elliott after one kilometre and opened up a 40 metres lead, but slowed on the second lap giving Elliott a target as he closed the gap slightly as he neared his finish line. Donna hit her halfway point in 30.40. She picked up the pace on the third lap walking at close to the hour pace, with a 15.04 lap and then really pushed on to record a sub 14 minutes last lap to crack the hour mark with a final time of 59.42.

Third place in the 10 kilometres went to Kay Coulson in 1.16.07. In the shorter race, Kevin Le Noury finished second ahead of Peter Beckerleg and Mick Le Sauvage who tied for third place.

Mick Le Sauvage, the first walker to start in the first race of the Bob Wright Handicap Series, held on to the lead throughout the race to finish in 37.14. With wind and drizzle greeting the walkers for the four lap race, times were a little down to those expected with Stuart Le Noury and Donna Allan recording the fastest mens and womens times respectively. Stuart dipped under 26 minutes with Donna timed at 30.36.

5 kms Champ and 3 kms Graham Mann

Another personal best for Donna Allan

Stuart Le Noury and Donna Allan continue to dominate the club Championships, with both being well clear of their nearest opponents in the latest walk over 5 kilometres held on a warm and sunny morning at North Side. Overall winner Stuart dipped under 25 minutes, whilst second home Donna Allan, after a slow start in the opening lap of two which she passed in around 14.40, sped up to cross the line in 28.45 for a new personal best time removing a minute from her previous time. Third place went to Rob Elliott, well down on his recent age best , but still a minute too good for fourth placed Phil Lockwood.

Good walks from Donna and Phil gave them the first two places in the handicapped section of the race, closely followed by Kay Coulson.

A week earlier and Peter Beckerleg  claimed the individual win in the Graham Mann Team trophy over three kilometres, edging out Mick Le Sauvage. The team win went to Le Sauvage and Dave Dorey after watch times were added together. It was a close team race as the winners only had a seven seconds advantage over the second team, who in turn beat the third team by three seconds.

Elliott and Allan open Championships with a win.

Rob Elliott opened up the Sarnia Walking Club 2019 Championship with a winning 28.49 clocking over 5 kilometres, ahead of second placed and leading woman Donna Allan with 30.58. Elliott, celebrating his birthday and moving up into the M60 age group, surprised himself with his best time for three years and in the process broke the Guernsey age best time set by Terry Bates back in 2011. A seven minute dead time for the first of the four laps gave him a good start which was followed by laps of 7.13, 7.19 and 7.17.

Second and third places were taken by walkers who have entered marathons in the next few months, second placed Donna in London and third placed Phil Lockwood in Brighton. Fourth place went to Kevin Le Noury ahead of Kay Coulson who claimed the handicap win. Next home was Mick Le Sauvage , one race away from his 8,000 miles milestone with Dave Dorey bringing home the field.

Kevin Allan and Jayne Le Noury both succumbed to injuries and completed around half the distance.
