Good walk for race winner

Stuart Le Noury recorded his best time for 5,000 metres for a good few years as he ducked under 25 minutes for an easy win over Rob Elliott. Third place went to Phil Lockwood who continues to get back towards his old form, removing another minute off his last race at the distance. All competitors managed to improve on their last race, making the most of the warm evening conditions.

Remarkably in the handicap section of the event the finishing order was the same as in the actual race.

Stuart Le Noury leads the way

With a time slower than would normally be expected, Stuart Le Noury had another easy win over 10 kilometres in the fifth race of the Heritage Group Championships. Having walked the around the island 39 miles non competitive walk the day before, he was perhaps more cautious today. Rob Elliott finished in second place, slightly quicker than in his last race, with Donna Allan taking third place overall and leading woman.

Donna was the other walker in the race having taken part in the longer event the day before. Phil Lockwood, another quicker than his last race continues to improve after suffering with injury not so long ago.

Kay Coulson, the second woman held off Mick Le Sauvage for fifth place with Dave Dorey completing the line up finishing in just over 80 minutes.

In the handicap section of the race Kay Coulson finished in first place ahead of Phil Lockwood.

Heritage Group Championships Race Four

Heritage leaders forge ahead

Stuart Le Noury and Donna Allan continue to forge ahead in the Heritage Group Championships after four races in the ten race series. Stuart won the latest 5 kilometres event with ease in 26.50, followed by Rob Elliott nearly four minutes behind. Leading woman Donna Allan, finishing third overall, ran out of road as she chased down Elliott in the second half of the race to finish thirteen seconds behind. Phil Lockwood claimed third place in the mens section in 32 minutes. 

Olga Le Noury was second woman home in just under 35 minutes, with Jayne Le Noury in third.

The handicap win, with handicap time added to finishing time, went to Dave Dorey, ahead of second placed Mick Le Sauvage and race winner Stuart Le Noury back in third.

Stuart Le Noury in control of Heritage Championship 

Stuart Le Noury increased his lead in the Heritage Group Championships with an easy win over 2,000 metres in 9.12. Second home was leading woman Donna Allan who raced to a new personal best time of 11.04, finishing only four seconds down on the fastest time set on a track by a woman in Guernsey. Jenny Elliott walking 11.00 many years ago. Phil Lockwood finished a further minute behind, with Kevin Le Noury edging Olga Le Noury for fourth place. Mick Le Sauvage in 14.07 and Jayne Le Noury 14.43 completing the finishers.

New best time for Wendy Wilson

Wendy Wilson had the walk of the day as she removed 44 seconds from her previous best time to help her team to success in the traditional Graham Mann trophy over 3 kilometres. Paired with Mick Le Sauvage, the two man team finished twelve seconds ahead of the second pairing of Phil Lockwood and Jayne Le Noury.

Individual success went to Dave Dorey who held on to win the race by one second from Jayne Le Noury. Last to finish was Stuart Le Noury who secured the fastest actual time of the race with his 15.06.

Wendy Wilson walks personal best

Third woman home Wendy Wilson knocked two minutes off her recent personal best time when finishing 8th overall and third woman in the Heritage Group Sarnia Walking Club Championships. As expected, club champion Stuart Le Noury walked to an easy win in 54.29 ahead of second man home Rob Elliott. Both finishing with times quicker than last weeks race on the same course, as did all the finishers who walked both. Walkers were met this week with cold and damp conditions rather than the heat of the week before.

First woman home was Donna Allan, who had the close contention of Phil Lockwood for much of the race. Both walkers feeling the after effects of their recent marathon races. A good walk from Olga Le Noury gave her second place in the womens section, holding off Peter Beckerleg who walked close to his personal best time. Kevin Le Noury finishing not too far behind them. Stalwarts Mick Le Sauvage with 1.15.56 and Jayne Le Noury 1.20.00 closing the race order.

In the handicapped section with handicap times added to actual times, Wendy Wilson edged ahead of Peter Beckerleg by three seconds with Olga Le Noury in third.

Sarnia Walking Club Championship Opener

Stuart Le Noury opened up the Heritage Group Championships for 2018 with an easy win over 5 kilometres at Saumarez Park. His winning time of 26.19 was much too quick for second placed Rob Elliott and his even paced race time of 28.51.

The first woman home was Olga Le Noury who closed Kevin Le Noury down in the final lap and moved ahead with a couple of minutes walking left to finish six seconds ahead in 34.20. Next home was Peter Beckerleg in 35.08, with Dave Dorey holding off Mick Le Sauvages late effort for 6th place. Second woman home was Jayne Le Noury in 37.41.

In the handicapped section held in conjunction with the Championships, Dave Dorey with a big improvement on his expected time was an easy winner from Jayne Le Noury and Mick Le Sauvage.

Winner Stuart Le Noury and Hilary Mann of Sparkhill Harriers race walked the recent Guernsey Easter road runs over 5 and 10 kilometres. Stuart walking 25.53 and 54.19 respectively, whilst Hilary did 33.09 and 68.11. Both races attracting over 210 finishers.

Heritage Group Championship wins for Le Nourys

Stuart Le Noury claimed the Heritage Group mens championship finishing off the 10 race series with a win over one mile with a time of 7.29. Second on the day and second overall in the championship was Rob Elliott in just under 9 minutes.

Winner of the womens race was Olga Le Noury from Jayne Le Noury. Jayne secured the womens championship with a two point advantage over Kay Coulson.

The combined Heritage championship for the Jubilee Tankard which is a handicapped championship was won by Mick Le Sauvage with a five points lead over Peter Beckerleg with Kevin Le Noury half a point behind that in third.

Coming up soon is the longest walk in the clubs calendar over 19.4 miles. It is the annual Church to Church walk being held on Sunday September 3rd at 9.00  am. All are welcome to come and have a walk between the islands Parish churches starting and finishing at Havelet bay, St Peter Port.. The walk has a generous time limit of 5 hours 30 minutes. A small field is expected with two recent past winners from England due to toe the line. There could be a new name on the winners trophies for the first locals home with last years winners Stuart and Olga Le Noury both off the island at the time.

A few days before this event the club are holding a 3 kilometres walk at Les Amarreurs at 6.30 pm on Friday September 1st. All welcome to walk.

A small field contested the ninth race in the Heritage Group Championships. Stuart Le Noury recorded another win breaking the hour with a time of 57.34, well ahead of Rob Elliott. Kevin Le Noury took third place with Mick Le Sauvage, leading the overall handicap championship finishing fourth. Phil Lockwood at around 7 kilometres and Dave Dorey at 5 kilometres both retired with injuries.

Brothers are first and second

Stuart Le Noury eased ahead of his brother Jason in the 2,000 metres track walk held on a hot evening. Finishing a few seconds faster than in his last race at the distance he crossed the line in 9.32, over half a minute ahead of Jason who was racing for the first time for a while.

Third place went to Rob Elliott. Fastest of the women was Kay Coulson in 13.54 ahead of Jayne Le Noury.

Hot evening conditions for race

Hot conditions welcomed the small field of walkers in the fourth race of the Heritage Group Championships resulting in a win for Rob Elliott finishing two minutes clear of Phil Lockwood. A good walk from Peter Beckerleg resulted in third place not too far ahead of Kevin Le Noury. Mick Le Sauvage closed the race after Jayne Le Noury pulled out of the race very early on with injury.
