Stuart Le Noury again wins the Sportsman Trophy as Champion with 2nd placed Phil Lockwood taking the Grace Mansfield Endeavour Trophy.

Olga Sinkevica wins the Carol Bates Memorial Championship Trophy retaining her title from 2015.

The next race is on Sunday August 21st at 9.30 am for a 3 miles road walk on the Rocquaine Bay Circuit, starting at the Imperial Hotel and finishing at the Rocquaine coast road car lay-by.

Only a few weeks after that is the annual Church to Church road walk over 19.4 miles on September 4th starting at 9.00am. It is hoped for a close walk between the womens Church Champion Marie Macdonald and 2016 Club Champion Olga Sinkevica, now Le Noury.

Stuart Le Noury the reigning mens Champion can expect the close attention of visitors Jim Ball, himself a past winner and newcomer to the event Sam Fletcher from the Isle of Man. Added to the mix could be Jason Le Noury who has raced sparingly this year.

Champions retain their Heritage titles

Stuart Le Noury and Olga Sinkevica both retained their Heritage Championship titles with one race to go in the Sarnia Walking Club Championships. The hot, windless conditions slowed times down a little on the coastal course between Pleinmont and Grandes Rocques.

Out on his own from the start Stuart won easily in 55.49, ahead of Phil Lockwood and Kevin Le Noury. Olga Sinkevica was on Kevin Le Nourys shoulder for the first kilometres before fading to cross the line in 1.12.18, holding off Peter Beckerleg and Mick Le Sauvage who finished closely behind.

An inform Kay Coulson, with a marathon race coming up soon, decided to walk to the start and do 10 kilometres before the race. A fast start in the race saw her well on course for a new personal best until she faded in the final half of the race. Her 1.15.00 clocking was still close to her previous best time and gave her a minutes advantage over third woman home Jayne Le Noury.

Although the Champions have been decided for 2016 there is still competition for the handicapped section held in conjunction. Jayne Le Noury is the current leader, followed by Kay Coulson and Mick Le Sauvage in second and third places. The last race in the series taking place next month.

Kay Coulson, racing in Crawley the weekend before, finished 6th overall and first woman in the Jack Fitzgerald Memorial Walk over 10.325 metres. She recorded a time of 1.14.27. The next local race is on Sunday July 31st at Rocquaine Bay. The distance is a 3.8 miles handicap for the Piette Trophy, starting at 9.30 am.

Personal Bests for leading women

Olga Sinkevica and Kay Coulson both claimed new personal best times in the Heritage Championships over 2,000 metres held in warm evening conditions. Olga had the challenge of the 5th placed man Kevin Le Noury for most of the race before pulling away on the last lap to finish in 12.54. Another good race from Kay Coulson resulted in a 21 seconds personal best time of 13.25.

Third placed woman was Jayne Le Noury who still has a slight lead in the accompanying handicapped section of the championships. Kays recent form bringing her into second place with two races remaining.

Leading man Jason Le Noury finished a few strides short of his personal best time but had a convincing win over brother Stuart who only managed to hold on to his younger brother for half of the race. His winning time was 9.04.

Rob Elliott took third place in just over 11 minutes , ahead of Phil Lockwood whose fast start came to nothing as he slowed down over the closing laps to finish in 11.59.

Peter Beckerleg in his 101st race finished only eight seconds behind Kevin Le Noury. Mick Le Sauvage finishing just behind Kay Coulson.

The next race is on Sunday July 17th from Pleinmont to Grandes Rocques, starting at 9.30 am over a distance of 10 kilometres. Details from Jayne Le Noury. lenouryjedburgh@cwgsy.net.

Championship leaders continue to increase leads.

Stuart Le Noury and Olga Sinkevica both increased their leads in the Sarnia Walking Clubs Heritage Championships in the latest race over 5 kilometres. Circumstances dictated that this championship was agreeably reduced from the original 20 kms distance.

Stuart Le Noury easily won the mens section in 28.12 from Phil Lockwood, whilst Olga was dominant in the women action in 34.02. Second across the line was Kay Coulson who continued her recent form with a new personal best time of 35.19, removing 43 seconds from that time set recently.

Third man home Kevin Le Noury only just got the better of Olga, with Peter Beckerleg a further ten seconds adrift . This was a good performance for Peter, giving him second place in the handicap section of the race. His next race will be a milestone in his relatively short race walking career as he will toe the line for the 100th time.

Next home was Mick Le Sauvage walking to form as was Jayne Le Noury and Dave Dorey.

Phil Lockwood, still walking in some discomfort, walked the Guernsey Dairy Milk Run half marathon the weekend before in 2.20.45.

Championship Leaders Increase Leads

Stuart Le Noury and Olga Sinkevica kept up their challenges for the Sarnia Walking Club Heritage Group Championships with narrow wins over their nearest rivals in the latest walk over 3 kilometres. On a warm morning at Les Amarreurs, Stuart Le Noury had the close company of brother Jason as they went through the half way point in 7.30 and 7.31, before Stuart increased the pace over the second lap to come home sixteen seconds clear in 14.47. Rob Elliott took an isolated third place two minutes behind, followed by Phil Lockwood who after last weeks DNF was perhaps easing himself back into racing.

A return to form by the two leading women saw Olga Sinkevica, with a fifteen seconds lead at halfway, increased to twenty six by the finish, defeat Marie Macdonald. A good walk by Marie who walked close to her personal best time. Sandwiched between the two with 19.45 was junior under 17 walker Alex Sinkevics.

Third woman to finish was Jayne Le Noury in 20.43, followed by Kay Coulson. Kevin Le Noury got the better of Peter Beckerleg by half a minute. Mick Le Sauvage , walking two fairly even split times ducked under 21 minutes, with Dave Dorey bringing the 13 strong field home in 22.39.

Elliott has double win

Rob Elliott did the double in the third race of the Heritage Championships, taking first place in the race and then quickest time in the handicapped race held in conjunction. With the handicap time added on to the finishing time he had a 5 seconds advantage over Kevin Le Noury.

In the absence of Stuart Le Noury who won the first two events, Elliott found himself in front throughout the race to cross the line in 16.34, well ahead of second placed Phil Lockwood in 18.01.

Elliotts time equalled the Guernsey age best time held by Terry Bates, although both walkers have quicker times at the distance on the road.

Phil Lockwood had taken part in the London Marathon the previous Sunday. He had suffered with a back problem after five miles and had to stretch it out throughout the rest of the race which he walked the entire way. His time was one to forget finishing an hour slower than last years race in just under 6 hours.

A good race by Kevin Le Noury gave him third place ahead of Mick Le Sauvage and Peter Beckerleg. Fastest of the women was Jayne Le Noury in 21.16, ahead of Kay Coulson. Kay held off Dave Dorey with a good last lap.

The next event is on Sunday May 8th at Les Amarreurs, over a distance of 3 kilometres for the Graham Mann team trophy. Start time is at 9.30 am.
