Hi, a short introduction to the writer of this website, which started out as a personal Guernsey Race walking site and has since 2009 been the official Sarnia Walking Club site.

My name is Rob Elliott, a race walker since the age of 11 in 1970. Apart from racing my interests are in the history of race walking in the island of Guernsey.

Before the days of broadband I had compiled some profiles of some of Guernsey`s past race walkers which I have now published at http://walkguernsey.wordpress.com/ .

Whilst I was at my best many years ago, I knew of a lot of the Guernsey Records and what to aim at, but over the years improved my knowledge via walkers memories and scrapbooks as well as trips to the library for the newspapers and have now got all the records online,  which are updated annually. Record lists  include Guernsey Records for men and women as well as bests at the “younger” age groups (Under 13 to Under 20) and “Masters” age groups.

My other project was to get the Guernsey`s oldest walk event, the Church to Church Walk information together. Details of past races and stats at http://churchtochurch.wordpress.com/ . As I like going back to the past, I will add bits and pieces, photos etc to all the sites from time to time, as well as adding current event reports and results as they happen.
