16th Hill Climb win for Stuart

Stuart Le Noury recorded a 16th win in the annual Le Val des Terres Hill climb to close the Sarnia Walking Clubs final fixture. His 5.11 clocking, against the clock with competitors starting at one minute intervals was 34 seconds quicker than visitor Neil Bates putting in a rare race walking outing. Neil raced the Church to Church walk twenty years ago in just outside 3 hours as a talented youngster. In third place Donna Allan recorded 6.33 to take the womens trophy.

Past Sarnia Walking Club Champion from Isle of Man was Terry Bates in 4th place recording a new age group record for the climb.

Alan Roger made a welcome appearance, whilst Olga Le Noury had the handicap of pushing son George part of the way up the hill in a buggy. Last man up the hill was Rob Elliott, losing out by a second to Kevin Le Noury, but holding on to his course record with his 15 wins overtaken by the winner.

Dave Dorey completed the line up in 9th place.

A 3 kilometres handicap race was won by Mick Le Sauvage, well ahead of Stuart Le Noury. Third equal went to Kevin Le Noury and Southamptons Jim Ball. Jim, a Great Britain international race walker back in his hey day, was racing for the first time in a couple of years. A regular visitor to Guernsey he holds the 5 kilometres road record of 20.59 set in 1986. Faster than his now 3 kilometres race time of 22.00. 

A mile handicap race was won by Kevin Le Noury holding off son Stuart by seven seconds. Third place went to Mick Le Sauvage, now with over 8,200 miles on his racing clock, starting back in 1959.
